- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup shredded Irish cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped spring onions
- 3/4 cup milk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the cheese and spring onions.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Using a wooden spoon, stir just until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times until the dough is smooth.
- Roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out 2-inch rounds with a biscuit cutter.
- Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
