Ingredients
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
- In a small bowl, mix together the warm water, honey, and yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is activated.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flours and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until it is smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Grease a 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place the dough in the slow cooker and cover with the lid. Cook on low for 2 hours.
- Remove the lid and let the bread cool for 10 minutes. Remove the bread from the slow cooker and let cool completely before slicing.
