Ingredients
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine honey, melted butter and eggs. Beat until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, salt, baking soda and flour. Add to honey mixture and mix until combined.
- Stir in raisins (optional). Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
