Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, combine honey, melted butter and eggs. Beat until smooth.
In a separate bowl, sift together cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, salt, baking soda and flour. Add to honey mixture and mix until combined.
Stir in raisins (optional). Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
