Ingredients
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, onion, and other desired toppings
- Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and other desired condiments
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
- Add the bread crumbs, cornmeal, red bell pepper, red onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to the bowl. Mix well to combine.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
