Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and 2 cups of flour.
  3. Mix well and gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12x15 inch rectangle.
  7. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the rolled dough and top with chopped pecans.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal slices.
  9. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar to make the caramel glaze. Stir in heavy cream and pour into a greased baking pan.
  10. Place the sliced buns in the pan and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
