- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 6-7 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp turbinado sugar
Directions
- In a food processor, pulse flour and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add ice water gradually and pulse until dough comes together.
- Divide dough in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out one dough disk to fit a pie dish.
- In a large bowl, combine apples, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
- Place apple mixture into pie crust. Roll out second dough disk for top crust or create a lattice pattern.
- Seal and crimp edges, cut slits for venting, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
