Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 inch round cake pan.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk; beat just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pan.
