Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Form the mixture into four patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the onions to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
- Add the beef broth to the skillet and bring to a boil.
- In a small bowl, combine the flour and butter. Whisk until well combined.
- Slowly add the flour and butter mixture to the skillet, stirring constantly.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the hamburger-steaks back to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
