Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into four patties.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until cooked through.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the onions to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
  6. Add the beef broth to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the flour and butter. Whisk until well combined.
  8. Slowly add the flour and butter mixture to the skillet, stirring constantly.
  9. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Add the hamburger-steaks back to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
  11. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
