In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, sweet potatoes, and milk until well blended.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just blended.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
