Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
