Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses and eggs. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, cloves and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup butter, corn syrup, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour over the warm gingerbread.
Cut into wedges and serve.
