Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 1/4 cups of sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/3 cups of flaked coconut
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and stir in evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in coconut and pecans.
  4. Cool to lukewarm before spreading on cake.
