Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/2 cup diced jalapeno
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- Oil for frying
Directions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the onion, bell pepper, jalapeno, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the chicken broth and stir to combine. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the beef mixture from the heat and stir in the cilantro.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal balls and flatten them into discs. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet. Fry the discs until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
- To assemble the tacos, fill each fry-bread with the beef mixture and top with your favorite toppings.
