Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 8 slices of thick-cut white bread
- Butter, for greasing the skillet
- Optional: Powdered sugar and/or syrup, for serving
Directions
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until combined.
- Cut each of the slices of bread into four sticks.
- Dip the sticks of bread into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a pat of butter. Once the butter has melted, add the sticks of bread to the skillet.
- Cook the sticks for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve the French Toast Sticks warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, and/or a drizzle of syrup.
