Ingredients
2/3 cup almond flour
1 cup powdered sugar
2 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Food coloring, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 300° F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
Gradually add granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold in almond flour and powdered sugar mixture until completely incorporated.
If desired, add food coloring and mix until desired color is achieved.
Pipe macarons onto prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each cookie.
Tap baking sheet on counter to remove any air bubbles. Let macarons sit for 10 minutes.
Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool completely before serving.
