Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl, turning to coat the surface.
  5. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch (6 mm) thickness.
  8. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Roll each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  10. Brush each roll with melted butter and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
