Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 8 small tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Cut the tofu into small cubes and add them to the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the marinated tofu. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  5. In the meantime, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or in the oven.
  6. To make the avocado sauce, mash the avocado with lime juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing a scoop of crispy tofu on each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, and chopped cilantro. Drizzle with the avocado sauce.
