Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh or frozen figs, chopped
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract. Combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Fold in figs.
- Spread batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cake cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
