Ingredients

  • 3 large apples
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin wedges.
  3. In a 10-inch ovenproof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add half of the sugar to the melted butter and stir until it dissolves.
  5. Arrange the apple slices in a decorative pattern on top of the melted butter and sugar mixture in the skillet.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the remaining sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  8. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  9. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, mixing until just combined.
  10. Pour the batter over the arranged apples in the skillet, spreading it evenly.
  11. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until the biskvit is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  13. Place a serving platter or a plate on top of the skillet, then carefully flip the skillet over to release the biskvit onto the platter or plate.
  14. Gently lift the skillet away, revealing the beautiful upside-down biskvit with caramelized apples on top.
  15. Serve the biskvit warm, and optionally, garnish with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
