Ingredients

  • 1 cup green moong dal (washed and soaked for at least 30 minutes)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Press the sauté button on the Instant Pot and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for few seconds.
  2. Add the soaked green moong dal and mix it with oil and cumin seeds.
  3. Add water, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garlic powder, ginger powder and salt. Give it a mix and close the lid of the Instant Pot.
  4. Press the pressure cooker button and set the timer for 8 minutes. Let the Instant Pot do its job.
  5. Once the timer is done, release the pressure manually and open the lid. Give the dal a stir and it is ready to be served.
