Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (125 grams) butter, plus extra for greasing the pan
- 1 cup (200 grams) sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 cups (500 grams) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 cups (500 ml) warm milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 pounds (900 grams) ripe plums, pitted and halved
- 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) springform cake pan.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, warm milk, vanilla extract and salt. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly. Arrange the plum halves in a layer on top of the batter.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup (100 grams) of sugar over the top of the plums. Bake for 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.
