Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional)
Directions
- In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the sugar and beat until the mixture is thick and pale yellow in color.
- Stir in the nutmeg, milk, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Pour the mixture into a large saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the brandy, if desired.
- Pour into a pitcher and chill until ready to serve.
