Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 2 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • ½ cup chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press 2/3 of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Reserve the remaining crumb mixture to be used as a topping.
  4. Spread the chopped apples over the crust in the baking dish.
  5. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the apples.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the caramel sauce.
  7. Crumble the remaining crumb mixture over the top of the pecans.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
