Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp curry powder

  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chutney
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 slices bread, soaked in milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large pan, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the onions and garlic, sauté until soft.
  3. Add the curry powder, turmeric, coriander, and cumin. Stir to combine.
  4. Mix in the raisins, chutney, almonds, and soaked bread. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together. Pour over the meat mixture and stir well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and smooth the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and spread apricot jam over the top.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice and a side salad.
