- 1 cup milk, warmed

Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk, sugar, and melted butter. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Add the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in 2 cups of flour, salt, cardamom, and cinnamon. Mix well.
- Add the raisins, chopped almonds, and candied orange peel. Mix in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the loaf with a towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the beaten egg with water and brush it over the top of the loaf. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
- Bake the Jule-Kaka for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
