Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • whipped cream and caramel sauce for serving

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and mixture turns a deep golden brown.
  3. Pour caramelized sugar into the bottom of a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until smooth.
  5. Pour pumpkin mixture over the caramelized sugar in the baking dish.
  6. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. To serve, run a knife around the edge of the baking dish and invert the flan onto a serving plate.
  10. Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
