Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and mixture turns a deep golden brown.
- Pour caramelized sugar into the bottom of a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until smooth.
- Pour pumpkin mixture over the caramelized sugar in the baking dish.
- Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
- Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the baking dish and invert the flan onto a serving plate.
- Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
