Ingredients
- 1 lb prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 cups water
Directions
- Heat ghee and oil in a large pot. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Saute for a minute.
- Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
- Add cleaned prawns and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add yogurt, mint leaves, and coriander leaves. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water.
- Add soaked rice to the pot with prawn mixture. Mix well.
- Add water and garam masala. Bring to a boil.
- Cover the pot with a lid and cook on low heat for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork and serve hot.
