  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the caramel sauce:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, pour the boiling water over the dried figs. Let them soak for 20 minutes, then drain and chop them.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, flour, sugar, melted butter, eggs, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Fold in the chopped figs until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
