Ingredients

  • For the rolls:

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Heat the milk in the microwave until warm but not boiling.
  3. Pour the milk, melted butter, and egg into the dry ingredients.
  4. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. In the meantime, prepare the orange filling by mixing the softened butter, sugar, and orange zest in a small bowl.
  8. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 12x8 inches in size.
  9. Spread the orange filling evenly over the dough.
  10. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll up the dough and pinch the seams to seal.
  11. Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices.
  12. Place the slices in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
