Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast with this baked French toast recipe. The thick slices of bread are soaked in a sweet custard mixture overnight, then baked to perfection. Topped with a delightful combination of maple syrup and crunchy granola, every bite is a heavenly treat.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granola
  • Additional maple syrup for serving

Directions

  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer in the greased dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices, making sure each slice is coated.
  5. Gently press down on the bread slices to help them absorb the liquid.
  6. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and sprinkle the granola evenly over the soaked bread slices.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the French toast is golden and the custard is set.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  11. Serve the baked French toast warm with additional maple syrup on top.
  12. Enjoy a delightful breakfast!
