This recipe combines the rich flavors of sausage and bacon with the sweetness of apples in a classic cornbread stuffing. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any special occasion, this dish is sure to become a new favorite at your table.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage, casings removed
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups cornbread, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage and bacon until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions and celery until translucent.
  4. Add apples and cook until slightly softened.
  5. In a large bowl, combine sausage, bacon, onion mixture, cornbread, chicken broth, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Transfer mixture to the greased baking dish and cover with foil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
