These fudgy and rich avocado brownies are a healthier twist on the classic dessert. Avocados replace butter to reduce the fat content while adding a creamy texture. You won't even be able to tell they're low-fat!
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine mashed avocados, applesauce, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Add cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Fold in dark chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool before slicing into squares and serving.
