Ingredients
- 1 ham bone
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 carrots, diced
- 3 celery stalks, diced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups milk
- 3 potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup corn kernels
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions
- In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery in butter until softened.
- Add the ham bone, chicken broth, milk, potatoes, and corn to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Remove the ham bone from the pot and shred any meat from it. Discard the bone.
- In a small bowl, mix flour with a bit of water to make a slurry. Stir the slurry into the chowder to thicken.
- Return the shredded ham to the pot and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the chowder has thickened to your liking.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
