Ingredients
- 4 ripe guavas, peeled and seeded
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- In a saucepan, combine the peeled and seeded guavas, onion, garlic, and jalapeno pepper.
- Cook over medium heat until the guavas are soft and the onions are translucent, about 10 minutes.
- Using a blender or immersion blender, puree the guava mixture until smooth.
- Return the pureed mixture to the saucepan and add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool.
- Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a jar or bottle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
