Whether you're a fan of okra or trying it for the first time, this recipe will make you fall in love with its delicious flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh okra
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for frying
  • Yogurt dip, for serving

Directions

  1. Wash the okra and pat dry with a kitchen towel. Trim the ends and slice the okra into thin rounds.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpea flour, paprika, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the sliced okra and sliced onion to the bowl and toss until the okra and onion are coated with the spiced chickpea flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat. Allow the oil to get hot.
  5. Carefully drop the coated okra and onion into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
  6. Fry the okra and onion until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Repeat the frying process with the remaining coated okra and onion.
  8. Serve the okra fry hot with a side of tangy yogurt dip.
  9. Enjoy!
