  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil to the bowl. Stir until the dough comes together.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 10-inch long breadstick.
  7. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter mixture onto the breadsticks, coating them evenly.
  8. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and dried parsley over the breadsticks.
  9. Transfer the breadsticks to a greased baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Serve with marinara sauce, if desired.
