Campfire Vidalias are the perfect side dish for any outdoor barbecue. The sweet flavor of Vidalia onions combined with the smoky taste from the campfire creates a truly unique and tasty dish. Plus, it's super easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 4 large Vidalia onions
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil

Directions

  1. Preheat your campfire to medium-high heat.
  2. Peel the Vidalia onions and slice off the tops and bottoms.
  3. Cut each onion into quarters, but do not slice all the way through. Leave the bottom intact so that the onion stays together.
  4. Place a tablespoon of butter inside each onion, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Wrap each onion in heavy-duty aluminum foil, making sure it is completely sealed.
  6. Place the foil-wrapped onions on the grill grate over the campfire, away from direct flames.
  7. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the onions are tender.
  8. Carefully unwrap the foil, taking care to avoid steam burns.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
