Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 Oreo cookies, crushed

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the crushed Oreo cookies, reserving some for garnishing.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Prepare the Oreo frosting by beating together 1/2 cup of softened butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  11. Once the cake has cooled, spread the Oreo frosting evenly over the top. Garnish with the reserved crushed Oreos.
  12. Slice and serve. Enjoy!
