Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into four portions and shape each portion into an oval-shaped patty, about 1/2-inch thick.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are tender and golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat. Cook for an additional minute to cook out the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly. Continue to cook until the gravy has thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return the cooked patties to the skillet and spoon the mushroom gravy over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the Salisbury steaks hot with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Enjoy!
