Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

  4. Add the cooked cabbage and onion mixture to the pot with the potatoes. Mash everything together with a potato masher or fork until well combined.
  5. In the same saucepan, heat the milk and remaining butter until the butter has melted.
  6. Pour the warm milk and butter mixture into the pot with the potatoes and cabbage. Mash again until smooth and creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
