Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, nutmeg, and ground cardamom. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter.
  4. Working in batches, add the meatballs to the skillet and brown them on all sides. Transfer the browned meatballs to a plate.
  5. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the flour. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to cook off any raw flour taste.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Whisk until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  8. Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
  9. Optional: Serve with lingonberry sauce and pickled cucumber on the side. Enjoy!
