Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. In a separate pot, boil the sliced potatoes in salted water for about 5 minutes, until partially cooked. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Place a layer of partially cooked potatoes in the greased casserole dish, followed by a layer of the ground beef mixture. Continue layering until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of potatoes on top.
  6. Pour the creamy sauce over the layered ingredients in the casserole dish, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
  7. Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  8. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are fully cooked.
  9. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy!
