Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound bacon, diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (16-ounce) package frozen peas

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  2. Add the butter to the skillet and melt. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the flour and stir to combine. Slowly add the chicken broth, stirring constantly until smooth. Add the cream and seasonings and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the peas and cook until heated through, about 5 minutes. Add the bacon back to the pan and stir to combine.
