Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of dried chipped beef
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups of milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of toast

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Stir in the flour and whisk continuously until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  3. Add the milk and whisk to combine. Continue to cook, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Add the chipped beef and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Toast the bread slices and place on a serving plate.
  7. Spoon the chipped beef gravy over the toast and serve.
