Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with milk until well combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheets and flatten slightly with the back of a spoon.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In separate bowls, mix confectioners' sugar with cocoa powder and vanilla extract, and gradually add milk until smooth.
  10. Frost half of each cookie with vanilla icing and the other half with chocolate icing. Let the icing set before serving.
