This classic country fried steak recipe brings the flavors of Americana to your kitchen. Tenderized steak is coated in seasoned flour and fried to crispy perfection, then smothered in a creamy gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for the ultimate comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 4 cube steaks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F to keep the cooked steaks warm while making the gravy.
- In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In another dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Dredge each steak in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steaks for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Remove steaks and place on a wire rack over a baking sheet. Keep warm in the oven.
- To make the gravy, sprinkle 2 tbsp of the seasoned flour mixture into the skillet drippings. Whisk in 1 cup of milk and bring to a simmer until thickened.
