This lasagna recipe is a crowd-pleaser, featuring layers of tender pasta, rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and gooey melted mozzarella. With just a little prep work and assembly, you can enjoy a delicious homemade lasagna that will impress your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 egg
  • 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, parsley, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together egg, ricotta cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with 4 lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese, and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat layers twice more, ending with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let stand for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
