Ingredients

  • 1 cup of raisins
  • 1 cup of currants
  • 1 cup of sultanas
  • 1/2 cup of chopped mixed peel
  • 1/2 cup of chopped prunes
  • 3/4 cup of suet
  • 3/4 cup of soft brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of mixed spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup of brandy

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the raisins, currants, sultanas, mixed peel, prunes, suet, and brown sugar. Mix together until everything is evenly combined.
  2. Add the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, mixed spice, salt, and breadcrumbs to the bowl and mix together until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Add the brandy and mix together until evenly combined.
  4. Grease a 1.5 litre pudding basin and spoon the mixture into the basin.
  5. Cover the pudding basin with a lid or double layer of greaseproof paper and then tie it securely with kitchen string.
  6. Place the pudding basin into a large pan of boiling water and boil for 3-4 hours, ensuring the water level remains the same.
  7. Once cooked, remove the pudding from the basin and serve.
