Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup jam or preserves
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture until combined.
- Form the dough into small balls and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Using your thumb, make an indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Fill each indentation with jam or preserves and top with chopped nuts.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until cookies are set.
- Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
