Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Fold in the apples and chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.
